Attention Education Supporters,
The Albemarle Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing regarding the proposed budget this coming Wednesday, February 25th, 6:00pm in Lane Auditorium of the County Office Building (McIntire Road).  Speakers may register beginning at 4:00pm.
WE  NEED  YOU  AND  YOUR  SCHOOL  REPRESENTATIVES to attend this public hearing in support of education funding!!  Please plan to attend, and identify at least one additional supporter to attend with you.  There will be many groups present to request funding for their cause, and if education representatives are not there the BOS may think we don't care.   Educating our students is the very basis of our community, and we need to share this message with the Board of Supervisors.
The County's proposed budget is $307.7 million ($26 million less than the current year's budget) and includes a 76.7 cent real estate tax.  This effective tax rate includes an additional 2.5 cents to set aside additional revenue for a rainy day fund in case the economy worsens.
While many localities across Virginia are considering eliminating teacher positions, the School Board's proposed budget for Albemarle County does not include reductions in teacher positions.
ACPS Parent Coucnil will host hospitality (light fare) at 5:45pm prior to the public hearing in Room 246 in the County Office Building.
Share this message with other education supporters and encourage them to contact the members of the Board of Supervisors with the simple message:
Support funding for education!
