Greetings all:

The November 10 Parent Council meeting notes and attachments have been posted.  Attached please find the following documents:
  • 10 Nov Meeting Update
  • Discussion to Share: Parent Teacher Conferences
  • Parent Resource Center brochure
  • SEAC brochure
Sarah Blech sent the following text for inclusion in e-newsletters:
Attached, please find a brochure outlining the services of the PREP/ Parent Resource Center.
The Parent Resource Center, located in the Ivy Creek School building behind Jouett Middle School, serves as a resource for parents, teachers, and community agencies involved with children receiving special education services. Realizing that parents must negotiate a maze that involves not only the student, but teachers, administrators, and related service providers, the goal of the PRC is to provide support and guidance throughout the special education process. The Parent Resource Center offers trainings, conferences, and workshops during the school year, and maintains a book and DVD library. PRC hours are 8:30 – 4:00 or by appointment.

Also attached is a brochure about the Special Education Advisory Committee. This committee serves as a resource to the ACPS School Board by identifying and addressing the unmet needs of children with disabilities enrolled in special education across the division.
  • Two Hour Power pledge documents (as used by Woodbrook and Burley)
Please note: A brief overview of the budget status report from Supt. Moran is included in the Meeting Update Dr. Moran and her administrative team are in the process of developing a comprehensive action plan for communicating and connecting with stakeholders. An advisory group meeting has been set for next week; the goal is to work together on a cohesive message. More information will be forthcoming.

In the meantime, please discuss with your school communities the opportunity offered by Dr Moran near the close of our meeting: She will be offering the availability of senior administrative staff to come to the schools and discuss budget issues and answer any questions.
